Sunday, March 5th, 2017, Kathy and I were honored for our 25th Anniversary at Plano Christian Church. We are so thankful for all the lives that we were and are able to be a part of over the 25 year span. It was a perfect day with us getting to see many old friends as well as sharing the morning with many new friends from our family at PCC. Our sons were able to play on the worship team, and Kathy and I felt very honored to receive all the cards and well wishes for our ministry anniversary. A big thank you to Gary York for the humbling, yet honoring experience of having my feet washed.
It seems just like yesterday that we moved to Plano as the time has passed quickly, but then reality sets in when you are dedicating babies of the babies you dedicated when we first arrived in Plano. We can’t say thank you enough for all the years serving together. To the left is the picture program that was presented during Sunday’s service. A big thank you to Cody O'Hara (Youth and Worship Pastor) for putting this picture program together and to Patti Bildusas (Church Secretary) for making the day very special through all her planning. PCC has always made us feel loved and Sunday was another special moment in our lives. We thank everyone for the gifts and cards. Thank you to PCC for the special gift of a trip to see a replica of Noah’s Ark and the Creation Museum. Click on the video above to see the picture video shown during the service. Pastor Stan
Our Journey for God's Glory
Our journey began in 1967 when two families, who lived next door to each other, discovered they each had been involved with Christian churches downstate.
We didn’t have a church home here in Plano.
God planted a dream in us to start a church in Plano. We met with Carl Moorhous from the C.D.E.A. and found others in the area who were interested
in a new church. Carl led and encouraged us to pursue this dream.
After several meetings, much prayer, and lots of work, we set our opening for
December 10, 1967.
It was such a blessing to see 35 people, 20 adults and 15 children, meet together for worship. It was a rainy winter morning. We met in our home for the church services because we had a piano. Sunday school met in both homes. Our church service was very traditional. We worshipped God by singing hymns, partaking in communion, receiving offerings, praying together and Tom Ewald our temporary first minister from Lincoln Bible Institute preached the sermon. It was an exciting day of worshipping God and seeing His plan unfold.
Our journey took us to Centennial School and then the Odd Fellows Lodge Hall. During this time we carried everything with us and set it all up each Sunday – pulpit, hymnals, communion trays and anything else that might be needed.
In 1976, the journey next took us north of town where land was purchased and the “round” church was built. Moving here gave us room to grow and lead more people to Christ. The next step on our journey in 1989 was to build the education wing.
Over the years, we have had our ups and downs, just like any journey.
God has always been faithful and through His faithfulness, we have been
able to payoff 3 mortgages in a timely manner. The many people who have
met Jesus and grown in their relationship with Him have made it all worthwhile. It has been a great privilege to have been part of His journey.
The journey goes on. It’s my prayer that 50 years from now, this church will
still be an active, vibrant, living testimony of God’s love continuing to serve
this community. Thank you for being a part of this journey.
His faithful servant, Theda McMinn
